WANdisco locks in new $1.5m contract
Software company WANdisco has secured a $1.5m contract win with an unnamed telecommunications company.
WANdisco said on Wednesday that its customer, a supplier of Internet of Things applications, will use its LiveData Migrator and LiveData Migrator for Azure products to migrate data from an on-premise Hadoop cluster to multiple cloud providers.
The AIM-listed firm said the initial opportunity was to migrate eight petabytes of data from Hadoop to the cloud, with the potential to extend this use case across architectures and geographies.
WANdisco added that in the future, its customer intends to change its architecture so that smart meter data can be transferred directly from its smart hubs to the cloud, eliminating the use of Hadoop. Under WANdisco's commit-to-consume contract structure, revenues received from the customer will grow beyond the initial $1.5m value as it migrates an increasing amount of data.
As of 1000 GMT, WANdisco shares were up 1.42% at 712.0p.
