Software company Wandisco has signed a commit-to-consume contract worth $720,000 with an unnamed "top 10 global retailer" for its LiveData Migrator solution.

Wandisco said on Wednesday that it will create a new, focused environment for machine learning and other analytical workloads for the client and support the new customer by helping to move a subset of data from its existing Hadoop environment to a new storage layer in the cloud, while also supporting the continuous replication of any ongoing changes to this data.

The AIM-listed firm said the contract win, which it secured with an existing client of three years, was driven by the customer's desire to utilise a separate environment with a smaller, more relevant, and succinct data set to perform retail demand forecasting as well as other machine learning and analytical workloads.

Chief executive David Richards said: "We are delighted to announce another deal with one of our key retail customers, representing yet another proof point of the strong demand we are seeing from organisations across various sectors to migrate data to the cloud.

"It is incredibly pleasing to see Wan continue to deliver new value through existing customer relationships in providing solutions that not only meet, but exceed business use case needs and requirements. Our talented people and critical solutions such as LiveData Migrator, have led the customer to view Wandisco as a trusted implementation and solutions architect partner, and we look forward to seeing this relationship go from strength to strength."

As of 1110 BST, Wandisco shares were up 1.51% at 303.50p.
