Westminster Group’s aviation subsidiary has signed a long term memorandum of understanding with an unnamed government-owned airport authority.

The AIM-listed company announced the deal on Monday which will enable it to provide security and safety services at a number of the country’s airports.

The parties will now work to undertake a comprehensive survey of the airports ahead of final contract discussions.

Westmister Group chief executive Peter Fowler said they’ve been in discussions with the government-owned airport authority for a while.

"The country concerned has long been a priority target for us given its geographical location, which is a completely different region to our West African operations, coupled with the country's stability and growth potential.

"Our strategy of developing long term, recurring revenue, managed services projects protecting critical infrastructure such as airports, ports and harbours around the world is gathering momentum and, as previously reported, we are now in discussions with a number of governments and authorities across several continents regarding large scale, long term (typically 15 - 25 years) projects, of which this is just one example.”
