Television and multimedia content producer Zinc Media Group announced on Thursday that one of its television subsidiaries, Blakeway North, has received a BAFTA nomination in the factual category of the 2017 Children's Awards for a documentary that it produced, entitled 'Born to Vlog', which was made for the CBBC factual strand 'My Life'.

The AIM-traded firm said it was the sixth time that a Zinc Media company has been recognised by BAFTA in the last three years.

It said the film tells the story of 12-year old Nikki Lilly, who loves makeup, clothes, baking cakes and social media.

Having been diagnosed at six years old with a life threatening medical condition, arteriovenous malformation (AVM), Nikki has to fly to the United States every other month for complex surgery.

She has her own YouTube channel, using vlogging as a way to connect with the world, and has attracted more than 17 million views to her page.

The film, 'Born to Vlog', is said to be an insight into Nikki's life over six months in 2016, mixing observational filming with her own video diaries and social media vlogs.

“We are delighted to receive this nomination, which highlights the continued creative excellence of our team of talented programme makers as we continue to build a solid reputation as a leading producer of high-quality factual television programmes,” said Zinc’s chief operating and financial officer David Galan.

“We are particularly pleased that executive producer and managing director of Blakeway North, Sarah Murch, and all of her team have been recognised in this way.”
