Zoo Digital announced the expansion of its presence in Europe on Thursday, with the launch of facilities in Madrid and Valencia.
The AIM-traded firm, which provides cloud-based localisation and media services to the entertainment industry, said it had acquired a 30% stake in AM Group for a total consideration of €0.83m in cash.
It described AM Group as an established dubbing and localisation company, which generated €0.35m in profit before tax in 2022.
AM operates from state-of-the-art facilities in Madrid and Valencia that feature nine recording studios, nine control rooms, and two mixing rooms.
The board said the investment in AM Group would serve as a primary hub for Zoo’s operations in Spain and Portugal, and would deliver dubbing services as part of its global end-to-end offering for major studios and streaming services in the Iberian market.
Additionally, Zoo’s presence in Iberia would facilitate localisation into the co-official Spanish languages, including Valencian, Catalan, Galician, and Euskera, bringing content from around the world to life in the regional languages.
“This latest investment under our global growth initiative will allow us to offer increased capacity and expertise in Spain and Portugal, both of which are territories that hold high strategic importance for our major studio clients,” said chief executive officer Stuart Green.
“The launch of Zoo in Madrid and Valencia strengthens our ability to deliver high-quality services at a time of significant growth in the region while also enabling us to cater for regional languages and cultures.”
At 1257 BST, shares in Zoo Digital Group were down 1.75% at 147.38p.
