Torrent sites go down after Swedish sting operation

The popular website for illegal content downloads known as the Pirate Bay was forced offline following a raid carried out today by the Swedish police.

According to that country’s national co-ordinator for the enforcement of intellectual property (IP) “There has been a crackdown on a server room in Greater Stockholm. This is in connection with violations of copyright law”.

Several other similar websites appear to have been targeted, including EZTV, Zoink, Torrage and the Istole.

At least one person was reportedly detained in connection with the above operations.
