Friday preview: Inflation data in focus on either side of the Atlantic

Investors' attention at the end of the week will be on key inflation data due out on either side of the Atlantic.

In the States, at 1330 BST the Department of Labor will publish personal income and spending figures for August.

Yet the market spotlight is likely to shine brightest on the price deflators contained in that same report.

Also keenly awaited are the final results of the University of Michigan's consumer confidence survey for September.

Earlier in the session, German retail sales and unemployment data for the month of August are both due out.

They will be followed by a preliminary reading on euro area consumer prices in September.

On home shores meanwhile, at 0930 BST the Office for National Statistics will publish consumer credit and money supply growth figures for the month of August.

It will be preceded by a report on second quarter gross domestic product due out at 0700 BST.
