Friday preview: US non-farm payrolls, ECB's Lagarde in focus
All eyes at the end of the week will be on the US non-farm payrolls report for June and what it reveals about the current state of labour market conditions.
Consensus is for a slowdown in the pace of job creation from 390,000 in May to 250,000, although the rate of unemployment was seen staying at 3.6%.
The year-on-year rate of growth for average hourly earnings meanwhile was seen dipping by only one tenth of a percentage points to 5.1%.
Across the Channel, the market spotlight will be on a speech from European Central Bank President, Christine Lagarde, on the risks facing the global economy.
On home shores, overnight the Recruitment and Employment Confederation will publish the results of its permanent staff placements and salaries indices for June.
Further afield, in Japan, investors will be waiting on reports covering real household spending and the country's current account, in May, and the results of the Economy Watchers' survey of business conditions.
