Friday preview: US non-farm payrolls, German industrial production in focus

All eyes at the end of the week were expected to be on the monthly US non-farm payrolls report.

Investors would be scrutinising the details of the release for any signal of further easing in the US labour market and the potential implications for the Federal Reserve's monetary policy.

Consensus was for a 250,000 person increase in hiring in September following the preliminary estimate of a 315,000 person gain in August.

The unemployment rate meanwhile was seen holding steady at 3.7%, alongside a 0.3% month-on-month increase in average hourly earnings.

Across the Channel, at 0700 BST, German retail sales and industrial production data for August were due out.

On home shores, just after midnight the Recruitment and Employment Confederation would publish its permanent staff placements and salaries indices for September.
