Thursday preview: US producer prices, UK GDP in focus

Investors' attention on Thursday would continue to be trained on US inflation trends.

At 1330 GMT, the Department of Labor was to release producer price data for March.

Consensus was for final demand prices to be unchanged month-on-month.

The latest US weekly unemployment claims figures might also prove of interest, given recent indications of weaker hiring intentions from surveys conducted by business lobby group NFIB.

On home shores, a minute past the stroke of midnight, the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors would publish its house price balance covering the month of March.

Then, at 0700 GMT, the Office for National Statistics will release a reading for gross domestic product growth in February.

It would be followed at 0930 GMT by the Bank of England's Liabilities and Credit surveys.

BoE chief economist Huw Pill was due to deliver a speech on developments in the UK economy and monetary policy at 1400 GMT.

Across the Channel, focus would be on a final reading for German inflation in March that was due out before the market open.

A report on euro area industrial production in February was scheduled for 1100 GMT.
