Wednesday preview: Fed rate decision, UK CPI in focus
All eyes in the middle of the week would be on Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell's press conference following the central bank's policy announcement.
At 1900 GMT the Fed was expected to announce that it would raise the target range for the Fed funds rate by 50 basis points to between 4.25-4.50%, even as it left the door open to further hikes in early 2023.
Powell's remarks meanwhile would be scrutinised for any sign that the central bank is pushing back on some market participants' expectations for a start to policy loosening in the back half of 2023.
Against that backdrop, on home shores, at 0700 GMT the Office for National Statistics was to release consumer price figures for November.
Consensus was for a dip in the year-on-year rate of increase in the headline Consumer Price Index, although at the core level prices were seen edging higher still.
Across the Channel, at 1000 GMT Eurostat would publish euro area industrial production data for October.
