Wednesday preview: Reserve Bank of India, Wizz Air Holdings in focus

The market spotlight in the middle of the week may fall on the Reserve bank of India as rate-setters in New Delhi meet to decide on policy.

Consensus is for a 50 basis point interest rate hike to 4.90%, but after the Reserve Bank of Australia surprised markets the day before investors are likely to be monitoring the decision more closely.

A smattering of euro area data are also scheduled for release on Wednesday with a report on German industrial production in April chief among them.

Readings on first quarter euro area gross domestic product and final employment are expected too.

Stateside, the sole economic report due out is a final reading for wholesale inventories in April, which will help add some colour to the current state of the inventory cycle in the US.

On home shores meanwhile, SP Global will publish the results of its construction sector Purchasing Managers' survey.

For Wizz Air Holdings full-year numbers, UBS analyst Jarrod Castle has penciled-in revenues of approximately €1.6bn and earnings before interest and taxes of -€510m.

That compares to the consensus on €1.7bn and €486m, respectively.

In his opinion, investors will be focusing on the trading outlook for the first quarter of the carrier's new fiscal year as well as for bookings over summer 2022.

His expectation was that the latter would be "strong", but he pointed out two potential headwinds, namely from currency movements and fuel given the company's limited hedging.
