Central banks will be front-and-centre on investors' minds on Wednesday, although the plummeting British pound will probably not be far from their thoughts either.

After the close of markets in London, the Federal Reserve will release the minutes of its last policy meeting and are expected to reveal a growing gulf between those who favoured and were against an interest rate hike on 21 September.

Also on the agenda are speeches from two high-ranking US central bank officials earlier in the day, the presidents of the New York Fed and his opposite number at the Kansas City regional Fed bank.

To take note, recent speeches from Fed vicechairman Stanley Fischer and Fed presidents Evans and Kashkari did not appear to have been especially 'hawkish'.

Two European Central Bank rate-setters who are still Stateside, Benoit Coeure and Yves Mersch, are also due to deliver speeches.

The latest Eurozone industrial production figures are also set for release, although one might be forgiven for wondering to what extent Sterling's slide might not upend the unexpected resilience shown by the euro area economy.

In Japan, core machinery orders referencing the month of August are also due to be published.
