Wednesday preview: US corporate results, Lloyds in the spotlight
The market spotlight on Wednesday will be firmly on the U.S., as the latest quarterly results from the country's tech heavyweights continue to roll in.
Among the corporate names due to report are Boeing, IBM, and Intel.
Investors will also be digesting the latest results out from Tesla.
On the economic side of things meanwhile, the IFO institute is due to release the results of its business confidence survey for April.
Stateside meanwhile the Department of Commerce will release durable goods orders figures for the month of March.
In the company arena, it's Lloyds that will be in focus, as the lender publishes its first quarter numbers.
UBS analyst Jason Napier was anticipating profit before tax of £1.61bn or £1.67bn excluding remediation charges, for a common equity tier one ratio of 13.9%.
Lloyds had guided towards 2024 net interest margins in excess of 2.90%.
According to UBS analyst Jason Napier, the lenders' shares were trading on 6.5 times' his estimated adjusted earnings per share for 2025.
In turn, that implied a significant 'miss' on Lloyd's target for return-on -tangible-equity and/or "substantial" costs to shareholders from motor finance redress.
The findings of the FCA's review of motor finance commissions were due on 24 September.
