Capital & Counties directors snap up share to boost confidence

A number of Capital & Counties Properties’ directors have bought shares in the company in a bid to boost confidence after recent results worried the market.

Chief executive Ian Hawksworth bought 50,000 shares for just under £160,000.

Managing director Gary Yardley, finance director Soumen Das and non-executive director Gerry Murphy purchase 30,000 shares each for between £95,000 and £100,000.

It comes after the FTSE 250 group, which owns Covent Garden and Earls Court, warned about “increasing uncertainty reflecting global and political challenges”.

Capco's retail clients levels of certainty tailed off, as although Covent Garden enjoyed its most active year of leasing there was a slow-down in the prime central London market that hit residential activity at Earls Court.
