Director dealings: CYBG chairman and deputy get skin in the game

The chairman and deputy chairman of Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank owner CYBG Plc have put some skin in the game by splashing out on their first stakes in the newly listed banking group.

Chairman Jim Pettigrew, the former finance director of Icap and chief executive of CMC Markets who has been at Clydesdale since 2012, spent just over £91,000 as he picked up 50,000 shares at 182.5p apiece.

Deputy David Bennett, who was CEO of Alliance & Leicester when it was taken over by Santander and joined CYBG last October, has purchased 16,334 shares at 182.66p.

On Friday, non-executive directors David Browne and Adrian Grace both made £30,000 purchases.

This follows unconditional trading of CYBG shares beginning on 8 February after it was demerged from National Australia Bank the week before.

Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank thus became an independent banking group for the first time since 1920, when it was acquired by Midland Bank.

NAB bought Clydesdale from Midland for £420m in 1987.
