Director dealings: Dairy Farm boss adds to stake

Graham Allan, chief executive of pan-Asian retailer Dairy Farm International, has popped into the market to buy a few more shares, after buying a chunk last week.

The Australian spent another US$78,000, buying 13,100 shares at $5.92, having bought 40,000 on Friday at $5.955.

Shares in the company were crunched in the aftermath of interim results last July, falling from above $8.50 to trade in a fairly tight channel around $6 since November.

Final results earlier this month showed the challenging retail environment squeezed food and health & beauty profits, although most key businesses achieved positive like-for-like sales growth.

At the time, the company said although the economic slowdown in the region would continue, especially in Southeast Asia countries, it would persist with its strategy of "driving sales and profit growth in ways that build long-term value", investing in new and existing stores and strengthening brands thanks to its strong operating cash flow and sound balance sheet.
