Directors dealings: Breedon scoops up some shares

Breedon Aggregates's boss moved to show faith in the company's prospects as the Brexit-related uncertainty takes its inevitable toll on economic activity in the UK and the country's construction sector.

Pat Ward, who took over as company chief executive on 8 March, is looking to close the acquisition of Hope Construction Materials for £336m to create Britain's leading independent producer of cement, according to the company.

Ward shelled out 66.5p for each Breedon share that he bought, for a total outlay of £33,250.

On 9 March, the firm posted a 18.1% jump in full-year revenues to reach £318.5m as profits before tax sped ahead by 46.4% to £31.3m.

"Details of the upside from the enlarged group is required to justify a re-rating from here given the relatively high valuation already in place," Numis analysts Howward Seymour, Chris Millington and Christen Hjorth said in a research note sent to clients later that same day.
