Director dealings: ECO chairman's egg-cellent profit

Eco Animal Health chairman Peter Lawrence hatched a tidy £700,000 gain after selling a small batch of shares in the animal pharmaceutical specialist after news of its chicken treatment sent investors cock-a-hoop two weeks ago.

Lawrence, one of the founders of the business in 1972 and an executive director ever since, sold 140,000 shares at the price of 500p, just shy of their 520p all-time high.

He still was still sitting on 9.8m shares in the company after the deal.

Sending the shares flapping on 19 October, Eco announced that it has been given the first permission outside Europe for the use of its Aivlosin in chickens laying eggs for human consumption, in the large egg market of Thailand.

Lawrence said: “This approval from the Thai FDA is an important step in the development of Aivlosin for commercial layers with Thailand being ranked as a global top twenty egg producing country. ECO has begun the process of submitting the Aivlosin regulatory files for the treatment of layers in numerous other key egg producing markets.”
