Director dealings: Entertainment One founder disposes of significant stake

Entertainment One chief executive Darren Throop sold 1.5m ordinary shares in the Toronto-based mass media outfit on Wednesday.

Throop, who founded eOne back in 2003, disposed of the shares at an average price of 385.84p each, for a total value of £5.78m.

Back in November, the maker of Peppa Pig saw its Family & Brands division turn in a 29% rise in revenues as demand for the popular porcine cartoon character remained strong and was bolstered by the growing popularity of the junior superheroes of PJ Masks.

That helped offset a 7% fall in the Film & Television unit, which was hit by fewer film releases and what Entertainment One called “the accelerated decline of the home entertainment market”, as DVDs fell out of fashion.

As of 1615 GMT, eOne shares had dipped 0.52% to 385.60p.
