Director dealings: Intu veteran Whittaker shows faith

Intu Properties deputy chairman John Whittaker bought almost £0.6m worth of shares in the shopping centre developer.

Whittaker, the Peel Group chairman who was appointed to the Intu board in 2011, snapped up 202,417 shares at an average price of 287.4p.

At that price, shares in the company are up around 13% from their post-Brexit all-time low, they are down over 23% from last year's five-year high.

The last financial update from the company was in July, when interim results showed a 10% increase in underlying earnings per share driven by strong growth in net rental income, with the occupancy ratio at 96%.

Management raised its guidance for full year like-for-like net rental income growth to 3-4%.

More than £500m of cash and available facilities on the balance sheet meant led Intu to say it was well positioned to take opportunities when they arise, "which adds to the considerable momentum from our active asset management and development projects, both in the UK and Spain."
