Director dealings: ITV's chairman elect forks out for shares

Ahead of his promotion to chairman, ITV non-executive director Peter Bazalgette has invested £350,000 in the broadcaster's shares.

Bazalgette, who will take up the role after the FTSE 100 company's annual shareholder meeting on 12 May, bought 150,430 shares at a price of 231.5p apiece.

Known in the industry as 'Baz', he has been a non-executive director of ITV since June 2013, having gained fame and notoriety as chairman of Endemol UK, the TV producer that trebled its valuation by developing reality television and lifestyle TV programmes such as 'Big Brother', 'Ready Steady Cook' and 'Changing Rooms'.

ITV shares, which last week hit a 52-week low, rose 2p to 232p by the close on Wednesday.
