Director dealings: JD Sports boss sells more than half of his shares, Symphony director buys again

Trendy trainer trader JD Sports Fashion disclosed a large share sale by its executive chairman Peter Cowgill on Thursday.

The FTSE 100 retailer said Cowgill had offloaded more than half of his shareholding, selling 10 million shares at an average price of 213.22p each.

That netted the company’s boss a gross total of £21.32m.

Following the sale, JD Sports said Cowgill had a total interest of 9,714,670 shares, or 0.19% of its issued capital.

Symphony International director Anil Thadani, meanwhile, made another purchase into the company on Thursday - his fourth since the start of December.

The investment company said Thadani, who is also chairman of the affiliated firms Symphony Asia, Symphony Capital Partners and Symphony Investment Managers, purchased 204,186 shares at 44 US cents each.

That made the latest transaction worth $89,841.84.

On 10 January, the company disclosed Thadani’s purchase of 96,026 shares for 42.96 cents each, and on 24 December it said he bought 550,000 shares in two transactions, both at a price of 42 cents apiece.

On 3 December, Symphony said its director bought 176,218 shares at 42.15 cents each, and 250,000 shares at a price of 43.89 cents.

At 1602 GMT, shares in JD Sports Fashion were down 7.21% at 196.24p, while those in Symphony International Holdings were 1.54% weaker at 0.45p.
