Director dealings: Newly appointed BAE non-exec picks up shares

BAE Systems non-executive director Paula Rosput picked up 1,000 American Depositary Receipts representing 4,000 ordinary shares in the aerospace and defence engineer at an individual price of $28.411 each one, for a total amount of $28,411.

The purchase was carried out in the States on Tuesday by means of a so-called ‘over-the-counter’ transaction.

At its Annual General Meeting held on 4 May, BAE boss Ian King said the year had gotten off “with good momentum” and that the business was performing well.

“Whilst economic and geo-political conditions remain volatile, we have started the year with good momentum and the business is performing well. In 2016 and beyond, we are well placed to continue to generate attractive returns for shareholders,” King said.

He reiterated the outlook for 2016 provided by the group at the time of its full-year results, forecasting earnings per share would grow by about between 5.0% to 10.0% from the 36.6p per share seen in 2015, assuming an exchange rate for sterling against the US dollar of 1.45.

Rosput was appointed to her post on 17 March.

She was also a non-executive director at Delta Airlines and Anadarko Petroleum.

Shares in BAE drifted 0.06% lower into the close on Tuesday to end at 490.80p but were still trading near the 52-week high of 526.50p on a closing basis which they had hit on 11 January.
