Director dealings: Prudential director makes share purchase

Prudential said on Thursday that non-executive director Ming Lu had acquired 7,000 ordinary shares in the FTSE 100-listed insurer.

Lu, who joined the board of Prudential in February, purchased the shares on Wednesday at an average price of 1,424.50p each, for a total value of £99,715.

Back in May, Prudential pushed the demerger of its Jackson US business back to the second half of 2021 as the firm reported an increase in sales at its Asia and Africa operations.

Prudential is planning to demerge Jackson to concentrate on high growth markets in Asia and Africa. The split was scheduled for the second quarter of 2021 but the company said it would now take place in the second half to leave time for regulatory requirements.

As of 1625 BST, Prudential shares were up 1.16% at 1,389.50p.
