Director dealings: Shawbrook stand-in CFO likes what he sees
Shawbrook Group's stand-in chief financial officer, Dylan Minto, snapped up shares in the challenger bank on Thursday after it posted a strong set of third quarter results.
Minto, who was director of strategy before his temporary promotion, bought 15,000 shares at 237.74p and 5,000 more at a slightly cheaper price.
Earlier in the day, Shawbrook reported a strong quarter with loan originations up 23% and net loans and advances up 19% to take the loan book to around £4bn as management stated the considerable potential to grow their core markets.
Shawbrook has grown while maintaining a stable net interest margin at 5.6% and an improved cost:income ratio.
Broker Numis said it expected to up its loan book forecast from its prior £4.065m.
"We like businesses that have sustainably high risk-adjusted margins, with low leverage, as they are better able to absorb external shocks," analysts opined.
"They consequently usually also offer lower risk as well as higher returns. High sustainable margins without a duration imbalance indicate pricing power, low negative earnings volatility, and a lack of excessive competition – all of which we like."
