Director dealings: S&U deputy chair buys ahead of dividend

Motor finance and specialist lender S&U's deputy chairman Graham Coombs bought £150,000 shares a few days before the cut-off date for its recently increased dividend.

Combs bought 150,000 shares at a price of 2,500p to take his personal holdings to 1.58m shares, or 13.2% of the company, on top of a further 2.5% he owns along with his brother, chairman Anthony Coombs.

Late last month S&U reported pre-tax profits up 35% to £11.9m on revenue up 39% to £28.3m.

The board upped the first interim dividend by 20% to 24p per share, to be paid on 11 November to shareholders on the register on 21 October.

On the outlook at the time of results, Anthony, formerly MP for Wyre Forest from 1987 until 1997, said trading and debt quality remained "excellent" and provided a "firm springboard for future growth".
