Directors dealings: Activist investor Bramson tops up stake in Electra

Electra boss Edward Bramson picked up another large slice of shares in the listed private equity outfit on the same day of his appointment as interim chief executive officer of the firm.

Bramson and one of his associates, Ian Brindle, were named to Electra Private Equity´s board on 5 November 2015 following an activist campaign by the former through his vehicle Sherborne Investors.

The activist investor had pushed for a review of Electra´s investment policy and of its relationship to Electra Partners, the separate investment outfit overseeing its £1.7bn of buyout investments.

On 26 May, Sherborne Investors purchased 42,719 shares at an individual price of 3,794p each for a total amount of £1.62m, raising Bramson´s stake to 11.4m shares, which equated to 28.36% of Electra´s equity.

That same day Electra announced that it had served Electra Partners with a notice of termination of the Management & Investment Guideline Agreement which had been in place.
