Directors dealings: Capital & Regional boss buys-in after interims

Capital & Regional's boss Hugh Scott-Barrett bought into the company's shares on the same day that it published its latest interims.

On 18 August, the UK-focused specialist REIT unveiled a 16% jump in operating profits for the six-month stretch running up to 30 June to £13.7m, in turn raising its half-year dividend by 8% to 1.62p.

The firm's portfolio centred predominantly on in-town community shopping centres.

Scott-Barrett purchased 75,000 shares at an individual price of 59.50p for a total consideration of £44,625.

However, in parallel on the same day he sold 50,000 shares at a price of 59.3p, so as to reallocate and acquire shares across his holdings, the company said in a statement.

The result of both transactions took his holdings in the company to 2.16m shares, the firm said in a statement.

Prior to becoming the REITs chief executive officer in 2008, he served as chief operating officer and chief financial officer at ABN Amro.

"Brexit has had minimal impact to date, and the 8% increase in the interim dividend highlights mgmt’s confidence in the outlook despite the expected loss of income from i) BHS (c.£0.5m in 2H16) and ii) potential sale of Camberley," Numis analysts Robert Duncan and Paul Gorrie said in a research note sent to clients on the same day.

As of 15:45 BST shares in Capital & Regional were trading flat at 59.5p.
