Driver said on Thursday that its chief executive David Webster purchased 50,000 shares in the construction consultancy at 55p each, spending a total of £27,500.

Following the transaction, Webster holds 2.05m shares in the group, which represents about 6.6% of the issued share capital.

On Tuesday, the group posted a £2.1m loss before tax for the first half of this year, compared with a profit of £1.3m profit in 2014, as a result of its operations in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

Chairman Steve Norris said that the first half of the financial year has been a period of investment and change for the group, while recognising the need to transition from the delivery of one growth strategy to the implementation of the company's new plan to take the business forward.
