New Hunting director buys first shares following interim results

A new director at Hunting bought his first shares on Friday showing confidence in the oil and gas group one day after it reported a 20% decline in its full-year pre-tax profits.

John Glick, a non-executive director who joined the board in February, bought 13,500 shares at an individual price of 486p, spending a total of £65,610 in the transaction.

The purchase follows Thursday's interim results, which saw a 20% drop in pre-tax profit to $108.5m, reflecting a $49.6m impairment due to slow trading and competition issues within the Hunting Electronics and Drilling Tools business units.

However, the group said the slump in oil prices did not affect its revenues, which grew 7% to £1.38bn.
