YouGov chief executive officer and co-founder Stephan Shakespeare has sold a large chunk of shares in his company to satisfy a tax bill.

The income taxes arose from a recent exercise of share options, which was announced in October.

As a result, he sold a total of 750,000 shares for just over £1m.

Shakespeare along with his immediate family has a total of 7,438,609 shares, representing a 7.1% stake in the company.
