Cut the deficit, prioritise investments, including backing the final recommendations from the Airports Commission, and don’t overdo it on business taxes, John Cridland, Director General at the Confederation of British Industries (CBI) told the yet to be determined winner following the close of the polls.

“What businesses will want to see is that any period of uncertainty around negotiations is kept to a minimum and for all parties to prioritise pro-enterprise policies that boost growth and jobs for all,” the business lobby group chief said.

“That includes getting on with reducing the deficit, prioritising infrastructure, including backing the final recommendations from the Airports Commission, and committing to keeping business taxes competitive,” Cridland added.
