Week ahead: All eyes on Austrian elections, Italy referendum

All eyes will be on the political landscape over on the Continent, how markets react to the outcome of the Italian referendum on Constitutional reform and Austria´s presidential elections and, if necessary, whether and how the European Central Bank is forced to step in.

Against that backdrop, the ECB´s policy meeting and follow-up press conference by its chief Mario Draghi, on Thursday, will be all the more relevant for investors.

In terms of economic data, the main releases to watch out for overseas will likely be the US ISM services sector purchasing managers' index for the month of November, at the start of the week, followed by Chinese international trade numbers on Thursday.

Back in the UK an equivalent services sector PMI is also due out on Monday, followed by a reading on factory sector activity referencing the month of October on Thursday and the visible trade balance on Friday.

Lastly, the Reserve Bank of Australia and Bank of Canada were scheduled to decide on interest rates on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
