Week ahead: All eyes on Carney, central bank rate decisions

All eyes will be on Governor Carney´s testimony before the Treasury Select Committee, alongside Monetary Policy Committee members Jon Cunliffe, Ian McCafferty and Kristin Forbes, as investors attempt to glean what their take is on the economic data published in the UK since the referendum vote and any new insights they might have on the possible scenarios for the economy going forward.

Data-wise, the NIESR´s rolling GDP estimate for August may also make the headlines. Halifax house price data and the official industrial production figures from ONS are also scheduled for release on Wednesday.

Figures on Britain´s trade deficit and construction output are also due out on Friday.

Acting as a backdrop, services and manufacturing sector purchasing managers indices will be released at the start of the week, on Monday, in China, the euro area and the UK.

To take note of, US markets will be closed on Monday in observance of the Labour Day holiday Stateside, which marks the end of the peak summer driving season in the US, among other things.

Most traders will also be back from their summer holidays and at their desks on 6 September.

The Reserve Bank of Australia and the Bank of Canada are also set to make policy announcements on Monday and Wednesday, respectively.

Riksbank will announce its monetary policy decision on Tuesday.
