Week ahead: Brexit and Chinese data in focus

The focus over the coming week will be on what some are billing as a potentially key five-day stretch for Brexit talks.

A Treasury Select Committee hearing on the Bank of England's latest quarterly Inflation Report, on Tuesday, will also be closely followed.

Friday will also be heavy in terms of UK economic data, with readings for gross domestic product, industrial production, and foreign trade in July all due out.

A raft of data is also due out in China, starting with figures on foreign trade figures for August on Monday, followed by a reading on consumer prices on Wednesday and money supply data on Thursday.

Stateside meanwhile, the week will be back-end loaded, with reports covering producer and consumer prices scheduled for Thursday and Friday, respectively.

Policymakers at the European Central Bank meanwhile are due to meet on Thursday.

To take note of, US markets will remain closed on 7 September in observance of Labor Day.
