Week ahead: Brexit to continue in the spotlight

Markets were expected to be on post-Brexit watch, with some market-watchers wary of the potential for further market volatility.

Political developments pertaining to the start of formal negotiations for the UK to exit the EU would also be closely monitored.

Against that backdrop, several first-tier economic releases were scheduled for release in Asia and the US.

Nonetheless, the spotlight was very likely to continue to be firmly on the implications of Britain's decision to 'Leave' the EU.

In Asia Pacific, Friday was to see the release of Japanese data on unemployment, consumer prices and business confidence, although recent events and the sharp appreciation in the yen probably meant those figures were already 'dated'.

Manufacturing data out of the UK and US would also be closely be watched, especially in the latter, as markets continued to try and determine the state of the economy before Brexit which analysts now believed would force the Federal Reserve to delay if not cancel any plans for another interest rate hike in 2016.
