Week ahead: Greece, euro area in focus

The market spotlight will shift back towards the euro area this week, with finance ministers from the single currency bloc set to decide whether or not to grant debt relief to Greece at their meeting on Monday.

In the following session, survey compiler Markit will release its 'flash' purchasing managers' indices for the Eurozone's manufacturing and services sectors, which hold the potential to move markets. During that same session, Germany's IFO institute will publish its business confidence index for May.

Back home, public finance figures for April are scheduled for release on Tuesday, followed by revised first quarter GDP data on Thursday.

A slew of data are set to be published in Japan, beginning with April foreign trade numbers on Monday and the country's consumer price index on Friday.

Stateside, focus will be on Wednesday's Federal Reserve meeting minutes, followed by figures on first quarter GDP and durable goods orders at the end of the week.
