Week ahead: Services PMIs, Chinese price data in focus

The market spotlight over the coming week will revert back to the People's Republic of China, where foreign trade are set for release on Thursday, with readings on consumer and producer level price data for July scheduled for release on the following day.

But international trade will not be far from investors' minds given the US administration's recent decision to expand its trade tariffs to cover nearly all Chinese exports during the preceding week.

In particular, traders will be closely watching for any shift in China's response after the US President reportedly said he might not carry out his threat of additional tariffs, subject to signs of progress in talks.

Ahead of those Chinese figures, Monday will bring with it readings on services sector activity in all the main geographies.

And in the UK, a barrage of data is also due out at the end of the week, including a preliminary reading on second quarter gross domestic product, as well as industrial output and foreign trade data for June, all on Friday.

Second quarter GDP growth figures are also due out in Japan on Thursday.

Further afield, on Tuesday, the Reserve Bank of Australia will announce its decision on interest rates, followed by the Indian and New Zealand central banks the following day.
