Week ahead: UK CPI, Global PMIs in the spotlight
Financial markets' focus will be on a report for consumer prices in the UK covering the month of April.
Come Wednesday, the Office for National Statistics is expected to report that the annual rate of increase in headline CPI slowed from 10.1% in March to 8.2% for April.
On the other side of the Atlantic meanwhile, the key day will be Friday, which will see the release of readings for durable goods, personal income and spending as well as consumer confidence.
Included in the second of those reports would be the Fed's preferred inflation gauge, the price deflator for personal consumption expenditures, for April.
Investors would also be pouring over a raft of manufacturing and services sector survey readings for the month of May in the UK, euro area and US.
In Asia, on Thursday Japan's statistics bureau will release a report on consumer prices in Tokyo covering the month of April.
Worth noting, some observers believed that lawmakers in the US might announce a deal on increasing the government debt ceiling over the weekend.
