Week ahead: US, China CPI and UK employment in the spotlight

All eyes over the coming week will be on consumer price data covering the month of September due out in the US and China.

The reports are scheduled for release on Thursday and Friday, respectively.

Also on Friday, investors will be digesting readings for US retail sales and consumer confidence, as well as for Chinese foreign trade.

Ahead of those data points, on Wednesday the US Department of Labor will publish the latest monthly wholesale price figures.

The minutes of the US Federal Reserve's last rate-setting meeting are due out as well.

On home shores, Tuesday will bring with it the August employment report, followed by monthly gross domestic product data the next day.

The Bank of England's Credit Conditions survey, on Thursday, may also merit watching closely.

To take into account, trading volumes in the US may be lighter than usual on account of the Columbus Day holiday.
