Week ahead: US jobs report and MPC decision in focus

The release of the monthly US jobs report on Friday will be very closely watched, given it will be the second to last report before the Federal Reserve´s next policy meeting in December.

Second in importance will be Thursday´s monetary policy committee decision on rates, accompanied by the latest meeting minutes and Inflation Report.

"We expect no innovation in terms of policy rate and expect it to be unchanged at this stage. We, however, do expect the MPC minuets to be hawkish with one member (McCafferty) voting for a hike. There is also a risk that Forbes joins in and votes for a rate hike on the back of rising domestic inflation," Credit Suisse said in a research note sent to clients.

Data on UK trade and industrial production are also due out on Friday.

Kicking off the week will be a slate of manufacturing PMIs from around the world for the month of October, the UK included.

In the case of the euro area, Credit Suisse expects they will be broadly unrevised from the 'flash' estimate of 54 and be consistent with a fourth quarter GDP growth print of 0.4%.
