Week ahead: U.S. non-farm payrolls, global factory PMIs in focus
All eyes over the coming week will be on the latest non-farm payrolls figures, covering the month of August.
Forecasts were pointing to a further slowdown in price growth across the next few quarters, but that would depend to a large extent on a slower pace of hiring.
Consensus was a for a 168,000 person increase in payrolls, versus a gain of 187,000 during the prior month.
But some economists were estimating thar the trend for the next few months might lie nearer 200,000, while the Federal Reserve had estimated the pace of increase compatible with inflation at its 2.0% target nearer 100,000.
Those figures would be released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday, at 1330 BST.
Also due out at the ened of the week were a slew of factory sector purchasing managers' surveys for that same month in China, the euro area, UK, and US.
A government survey of Chinese manufacturing sector conditions was also expected on Thursday, as opposed to the private sector-compiled survey due out the next day.
Earlier in the week, on Monday, the European Central Bank was to publish money growth statistics for July with UK money supply data due out on Wednesday.
Those reports would be followed on Thursday by a preliminary reading for consumer prices in the single currency bloc in August.
Stateside, house price surveys were set to be released on Tuesday, alongside the JOLTS report for job openings and quits in July.
Inflation readings for the US contained in the personal income and spending report for July were also likely to draw a fair bit of attention.
