Week ahead: US, UK GDP, Eurozone credit data in focus

UK gross domestic product figures out on Thursday will ofer a first, albeit preliminary, glimpse into the performance of the economy in the months immediately following Brexit.

They will be published alongside the latest distributive trades data from the Confederation of British Industries.

CBI will also publish its business confidence gauge referencing the month of October in the previous session.

Equally important will be the results of Markit´s purchasing managers indices due out at the start of the week, on Monday, followed by the German IFO institute´s business confidence index the follow day, as market participants keep close tabs on how euro area activity is holding up amid the uncertainty surrounding Brexit.

Euro area money supply figures on Thursday will also be key, allowing investors to gauge just how successful, or not, the European Central Bank´s quantitative easing programmes continue to be in propping up lending in the region.

A raft of data will be released in the US towards the end of the week, with reports on durable goods orders scheduled for release on Thursday followed by a preliminary estimate on third quarter GDP on Friday.

Japanese CPI and unemployment numbers also due out on Friday hold the potential to move the dial too, especially in terms of trading on foreign exchange markets.
