Five dead in Lisbon supermarket plane crash

A plane has crashed into a supermarket near the Portuguese capital of Lisbon, killing five people and injuring several others.

According to Portuguese media reports, the Swiss-registered plane exploded in the air in the town of Tires, with four of the passengers being killed, as well as a truck driver who was on the ground at the time of the crash.

The incident occurred in the area of a Lidl supermarket in the town, which is around 20km from Lisbon.

Portuguese emergency services have confirmed that the Swiss pilot and three French passengers had died, while the Portuguese driver was hit as the plane went off course close to the nearby runway.
