French police are on the hunt for the driver of a car which rammed into a group of soldiers in a Paris suburb on Wednesday.

Six of the soldiers were injured in the incident in the Parisienne suburb of Levallois-Perret, two of them seriously.

France has been operating under a state of emergency since November 2015 following a number of terror attacks in the country.

The attack happened around 0800 local time, with the car reportedly ploughing into the group of soldiers before speeding off the wrong way down a one-way street.

Levallois-Perret mayor Patrick Balkany told French media outlets that he believed the attack was ‘without doubt a deliberate act’.
