Amazon is planning to enter the fashion market through the takeover of online retailer Net-a-porter from Swiss firm Richemont.

Negotiations are at the early stages, as reported by Forbes, but the potential purchase would allow Amazon to enter into a key new sector with high growth potential.

Net-a-porter recorded sales of $835m in 2014.

It is not the first time that the e-commerce giant is said to be in talks to buy a clothing retailer, with rumours that it was in talks to buy Indian fashion retailer Jabong.com for $1.2bn last year.
