Tech giant Apple set a new record for sales in the weekend following a new product launch.

Since going on sale last Friday the company has managed to sell over 10m units of its new iPhone 6 and iPhone6 Plus devices.

That was despite technical glitches in the pre-order process. The company added that it could have sold many more iphones if greater supply had been available.

“We are working hard to fill orders as quickly as possible,” chief executive Tim Cook said.

As of 13:48 shares of Apple were rising by 0.76% to $101.73.
