BMW aims to double electric vehicle sales in 2021
BMW said on Friday that it aims to double its sales of fully-electric vehicles in 2021.
The German carmaker is set to release new models and boost the sales of EV in order to comply with CO2 emissions targets and chase market leader Tesla.
The BMW Group currently produces 13 electrified models but it aims to have 25 models available by 2023.
BMW aims for a 50% increase in sales of electrified vehicles versus 2020. BMW said it sold close to 193,000 electrified vehicles last year.
Tesla delivered just under 500,000 vehicles in 2020.
BMW said on Tuesday that its global EV sales accounted for 15% of its sales in Europe.
