Unrest at tech giant Apple's primary manufacturing hub in Zhengzhou will likely result in a production shortfall of almost 6.0m iPhone Pro units this year.

According to Bloomberg, citing a person "familiar with assembly operations", the situation at Apple's plant "remains fluid", with the estimate of potential lost production still changeable.

The article stated that the total impact on production will depend on just how quickly Taiwanese operator Foxconn Technology can get staff back on to assembly lines following violent protests against Covid-19 restrictions.

"If lockdowns continue in the weeks ahead, production could be set further back," said the report.

As of 1545 GMT, Apple shares were down 1.78% at $145.47 each.
